In 2014, we opened our doors at KIPP East Central Primary to 100 kindergarten students and their families. Four years later, we are now a kindergarten through third grade school, growing to be a full kindergarten through eighth grade. Our vision is to offer a truly excellent education for families in New Orleans East, an area of New Orleans that has historically not had first-class options. We are part of our community and truly a neighborhood school, with 80 percent of KECP scholars residing in New Orleans East.
At KECP we believe in not only teaching our students the academic skills they will need for college and beyond, but also the values and habits they will need for a life of happiness and success. We strive to instill the intellect, character, and habits necessary to graduate from college and positively shape our community and our world. We greet students with hugs and high fives, get to know them personally, and work hard to build positive relationships and to create a loving, structured, and safe environment to ensure the success of our scholars.
